General Information

The Principals - Community and Culture Scholarship is a new Woodleigh scholarship that connects with our Values, Mission Statement and Commitments outlined in the Learning to Thrive Strategic Plan.

Woodleigh is seeking a student looking to become a leader within Woodleigh's student community who is always looking to make a difference and contribute to better outcomes for the community locally and internationally through Woodleigh Community Partnerships and Service Learning opportunities.

We will be seeking students who are curious, who continuously challenge and question, and who seek out answers and understanding.

Community and Culture Scholarship

Woodleigh welcomes applications for entry into Years 5 and 7 in 2025 who do not currently attend the school. 

Applications

Applications for the Years 5 and 7, 2025 Principals- Community and Culture Scholarships are now open and close on Friday 10 May 2024.

Supporting Documentation

The following documents are required for each scholarship candidate:

  • Complete Woodleigh's Application for Enrolment (if you haven't applied previously)
  • Complete the Application for Scholarship Testing (compulsory)
  • Cover letter outlining the student’s qualities and achievements
  • Semester 1, 2023 full school report
  • Semester 2, 2023 full school report
  • Year 5 NAPLAN test results 
  • Year 3 NAPLAN test results
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Option to record a 30-second video or a written piece explaining how you would like to make a difference in the world in which we live.

Applicants should have sound academic potential, a strong desire to learn, and the willingness to give their best to Woodleigh's extensive co-curricular programs. We seek young leaders who are committed to our community and work to better themselves and their peers through active contribution and service.

All scholarship applicants are required to sit the Scholarship Examination to be held on Saturday 18 May 2024.

Creative thinkers who strive for excellence and are dedicated to their community are encouraged to apply.

Documents should be addressed to Laura Maasburg, Director of Enrolments, at enrol@woodleigh.vic.edu.au by the closing date of Friday 10 May 2024. Applications will not be accepted after this date.

Inclusions

The Principals - Community and Culture Scholarships cover a percentage of Tuition Fees only and is tenable through to the end of Year 12.

Additional costs such as the Consolidated Charges, camps, uniforms and books are not part of the Tuition Fees and are therefore not covered by the scholarship.  

Expectations

Receiving the Principals - Community and Culture Scholarship is a privilege, and students are responsible for being leaders within our community, adhering to our values of Respect for Self, Others and the Environment. Awardees will participate in an annual scholarship review; this meeting will occur between the Deputy Principal - Community, Culture and Student Experience and the Principal. It will be structured as a mentoring opportunity for scholarship students as they journey through Woodleigh School. They will reflect on what has been achieved and discuss aspirations for the year ahead.

Scholarship Process

Applications close on: Friday 10 May 2024

Compulsory Scholarship Testing: Saturday 18 May 2024

The first round of auditions and interviews will occur in June 2024.

Scholarship offers are strictly confidential and are made at the discretion of the Principal. All applicants will receive communication from the school advising the outcome of their application by the end of June 2024.
